“GAMA” SEBUAH KARYA PENCIPTAAN TARI TERINSPIRASI DARI KESENIAN BADAWANG RANCAEKEK

ABSTRAK Karya tari dengan judul Gama ini diambil dari bahasa Sanksekerta yang memiliki arti perjalanan. Perjalanan ini dimaksudkan pada upaya para seniman untuk mempertahankan Kesenian Badawang di lingkungan masyarakat yang mulai acuh terhadap kesenian lokal. Kesenian Badawang dijadikan sumber inspirasi dalam mencipta karya ini karena didukung pula oleh pengalaman empiris penulis menyaksikan industrialisasi yang terjadi di daerah Rancaekek Kabupaten Bandung. Masyarakat setempat saat ini tidak mengenali secara utuh bentuk Kesenian Badawang yang merupakan kesenian asli Rancaekek, bahkan tidak sedikit masyarakat tidak mengetahuinya sama sekali. Faktor yang disinyalir menjadi penyebab dari kondisi tersebut adalah pengaruh globalisasi membuat teknologi dan informasi semakin maju serta berkembang pesat. Banyak lahan persawahan diubah, dijadikan sebagai lahan industri serta dibangun gedunggedung tinggi hanya untuk kepentingan negara luar. Profesi warga setempat berubah drastis dan mengharuskannya tetap bertahan hidup dengan bekerja di perusahaan tersebut hingga meninggalkan kegiatan berkesenian. Minoritas warga Rancaekek memiliki jiwa seni yang diklaim sebagai seorang seniman, bersikeras memperkenalkan Kesenian Badawang kepada mayoritas masyarakat yang lebih modern. Semangat juang tersebut diusung ke dalam karya Tari Gama yang dikemas ke dalam bentuk tari kelompok dengan metode pendekatan kontemporer serta tipe garap dramatik. Terciptanya karya tari Gama ini berlandaskan teori Doris Humphrey, di mana sumber gerak yang digunakan merupakan hasil dari desain, dinamika, irama atau ritme dan motivasi, serta gerak yang melalui proses distrorsi dan stilisasi dari gerak khas Boneka Badawang, juga gerak keseharian. Semua itu tersusun dan membentuk karya Tari Gama. Kata Kunci: Kesenian Badawang, Dramatik, Kontemporer, Semangat Juang. ABSTRACT “GAMA” A WORK OF DANCE CREATION INSPIRED BY THE ART OF BADAWANG RANCAEKEK, DECEMBER 2023. The dance work entitled Gama is taken from Sanskrit which means journey. This journey is aimed at the artists' efforts to maintain Badawang Art in a community that was starting to become indifferent to local art. Badawang art is used as a source of inspiration in creating this work because it is also supported by the author's empirical experience of witnessing industrialization that occurred in Rancaekek area, Bandung Regency. The local community currently does not fully recognize the Badawang art form, which is the original art of Rancaekek, in fact, quite a few people do not know about it at all. The factor that is thought to be the cause of this condition is the influence of globalization making technology and information increasingly advanced and developing rapidly. Many rice fields were converted, used as industrial land and tall buildings were built only for the benefit of foreign countries. The local residents' professions changed drastically and required them to survive by working for the company and abandoning artistic activities. A minority of Rancaekek residents have artistic souls and claim to be artists, insisting on introducing Badawang art to the majority of more modern society. This fighting spirit is carried into the work of Gama Dance which is packaged in the form of group dance with a contemporary approach and dramatic type of work. The creation of the Gama dance work is based on Doris Humphrey's theory, while the source of movement used is the result of design, dynamics, rhythm and motivation, as well as movements that go through a process of distortion and stylization from the typical Badawang Doll movements, and daily movements.
