Abstract

ABSTRAK Di Indonesia, terdapat beragam tradisi, termasuk di antaranya adalah upacara menyambut kelahiran bayi. Seperti yang diterapkan oleh masyarakat Desa Klampisan, setiap kali ada yang baru melahirkan, mereka melaksanakan suatu tradisi yang dikenal sebagai brokohan. Penelitian ini berusaha menggali tentang tradisi brokohan yang dilakukan oleh warga Desa Klampisan sekaligus mencari makna dan simbol dalam tradisi tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Penggalian data dilakukan dengan metode observasi dan wawancara. Teori yang dipakai dalam peneltian ini menggunakan teori semiotika Roland Barthes. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa Tradisi Brokohan merupakan tradisi yang masih dilestarikan di Desa Klampisan. Sebagaimana tradisi-tradisi lainya tradisi brokohan mengalami penyesuaian dengan nilai-nilai ajaran gama Islam. Tradisi Brokohan dilakuakan dengan acara doa bersama dan diakhiri dengan acara berkatan (sajian). Dan setiap sajian tersebut mengandung makna filosofis tersendiri. Di antara sajian-sajian yang disajikan dalam acara brokohan di Desa Klampisan adalah Nasi ambengan, jenang merah. Ingkung, telur dan urap-urap. Kata kunci: Brokohan; sajian; makna. ABSTRACT In Indonesia, a variety of traditions exists, one of which revolves around welcoming the birth of a newborn. As practiced by the residents of Klampisan Village, whenever someone gives birth, they engage in a customary ritual known as brokohan. This study aims to delve into the brokohan tradition, seeking to unveil the meanings and symbols embedded in this cultural practice. Qualitative research methods are employed, utilizing observation and interview techniques for data collection. The theoretical framework applied in this study draws upon Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The findings of this investigation uncover that the Brokohan Tradition continues to thrive in Klampisan Village. Similar to other traditions, the brokohan ritual has adapted to align with the values espoused by Islamic teachings. The tradition involves a collective prayer event and culminates with a berkatan (serving) ceremony, where each dish holds its own philosophical significance. Among the dishes presented during the brokohan ceremony in Klampisan Village are Nasi Ambengan, red porridge (jenang merah), Ingkung (a traditional Javanese chicken dish), eggs, and urap-urap (a Javanese salad).
