MOTIF BATIK KLASIK CUPAT MANGGU DAN AKSARA KAGANGA SEBAGAI REFLEKSI MOTIF KHAS TASIKMALAYA JAWA BARAT

Tasikmalaya has plenty of cultural resources, among other is Tasikmalaya batik. Its batik motifs contain not only aesthetic values but also values of tradition and local genius. The research was conducted in Tasikmalaya to contribute to the field of art and culture, especially the art of batik, as well as to enrich the repertoire of Tasikmalaya batik with new motifs. It aims to explore and analyze classic batik motifs and Sundanese letters. By using a qualitative method with an aesthetic approach, the study is expected to benefit the community and raise public awareness of the importance of cultural preservation by studying the characteristics of both Tasikmalaya batik and Sundanese letters.

Kota Tasikmalaya memiliki banyak kekayaan budaya, salah satunya ialah batik Tasikmalaya. Motif batik Tasikmalaya tidak hanya memiliki nilai estetika saja, namun juga mengandung nilai-nilai tradisi dan kearifan lokal. Latar belakang pemilihan lokasi penelitian ialah dengan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan mampu berkontribusi terhadap kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan di bidang seni dan budaya terutama seni membatik, serta memperkaya motif-motif baru di dalam khasanah batik tradisi di Kota Tasikmalaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggali dan menganalisa motif batik klasik dan aksara sunda. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan estetika. Penelitian ini diharapkan mampu berkontribusi bagi masyarakat luas, pentingnya upaya pelestarian budaya dengan mengkaji karakteristik keduanya yang mengangkat tradisi budaya lokal dengan pendekatan aspek estetis.
