MENGGALI KREATIVITAS KARYA RADEN SALEH DENGAN PENDEKATAN PSIKOLOGI SENI

Raden Saleh was the only Indonesian famous as a European-style painter. His biography, works, polemics, controversies, etc, have been written within studies of Indonesian visual art histories. Therefore, the writer attempts to investigate the acculturation process of culture or arts brought from Europe to Indonesia by him. During his long stay in Europe, Raden Saleh had gotten many experiences and refined his painting skills. In the context of Indonesian visual arts of 19th century, he was the only Indonesian painter recorded in Indonesian visual art history books. Later, history recorded Affandi, Sudjojono, Basuki Abdullah and other painters enlivened the world of Indonesian paintings in the 20th Century. Regarding this, viewed from the theories of Art Psychology, Raden Saleh had a remarkable sense of creativity. In this study, the writer seeks to explore Raden Saleh’s creativity values by using Art Psychology approach.

Raden Saleh, satu-satunya orang yang namanya populer di Indonesia sebagai tokoh seni lukis bergaya Eropa. Biografinya, karya-karyanya, polemik-polemiknya, kontroversinya, dan lain-lainnya banyak ditulis dalam kajian-kajian sejarah seni rupa Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, penulis mencoba melihat dari sisi lain terutama tentang proses akulturasi kebudayaan/ kesenian yang dibawa Raden Saleh dari Eropa ke Indonesia. Dari durasi yang lama di Eropa, Raden Saleh mendapatkan banyak pengalaman dan semakin matang dari sisi skill melukisnya. Dalam konteks seni rupa Indonesia, pada abad 19, dalam catatan buku-buku sejarah seni rupa Indonesia, Raden Saleh menempati 100% satu-satunya tokoh seni lukis Indonesia. Setelah Raden Saleh baru dicatat nama tokoh Affandi, Sudjojono, Basuki Abdullah dan seterusnya yang meramaikan dunia seni lukis Indonesia pada abad ke 20. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, dalam teori Psikologi Seni, Raden Saleh memiliki daya kreatif yang luar biasa. Pada kajian ini, penulis mencoba menggali nilai-nilai kreativitas Raden Saleh dengan pendekatan Psikologi Seni.
