TATA CAHAYA DALAM PAMERAN SENI RUPA: CAHAYA MEMPERKUAT INFORMASI YANG DISAMPAIKAN PERUPA

Lighting/ lamp is an artistic element which is quite important in performances and exhibitions. A lighting designer must learn the basic knowledge and mastery of lighting equipments to be applied and developed for artistic need of various events, such as in an exhibition. Lighting in an exhibition that illuminates all objects enables artists and audiences of the artworks to communicate with each other. All illuminated objects provide a clear picture about everything that will be communicated to the audiences of the artworks. With lighting, artists can present imaginative illusions. There are four basic functions of lighting, namely illumination, dimensions, selection, and atmosphere. The four basic lighting functions mentioned above do not stand separately. This means that each function has an interaction (interplay). In addition to the four principal functions above, lighting has supporting functions developed differently by every lighting designer.

Tata cahaya/ lampu adalah unsur tata artistik yang cukup penting dalam pertunjukan dan pameran. Seorang penata cahaya/ lampu perlu mempelajari pengetahuan dasar dan penguasaan peralatan tata cahaya/lampu yang selanjutnya dapat diterapkan dan dikembangkan untuk kepentingan artistik berbagai acara, salah satunya adalah pameran. Tata cahaya/ lampu yang hadir di pameran dan menyinari semua objek sesungguhnya ingin menghadirkan kemungkinan bagi perupa dan penikmat karya-karya untuk saling melihat dan berkomunikasi. Semua objek yang disinari memberikan gambaran yang jelas kepada penikmat karya tentang segala sesuatu yang akan dikomunikasikan. Dengan cahaya, perupa dapat menghadirkan ilusi imajinatif. Banyak hal yang bisa difungsikan berkaitan dengan peran tata cahaya/ lampu tetapi fungsi dasar tata cahaya/ lampu ini ada empat, yaitu penerangan, dimensi, pemilihan, dan atmosfir. Keempat fungsi pokok tata cahaya di atas tidak berdiri sendiri. Artinya, masing-masing fungsi memiliki interaksi (saling mempengaruhi). Fungsi penerangan dilakukan dengan memilih area tertentu untuk memberikan gambaran dimensional objek, suasana, dan emosi peristiwa. Selain keempat fungsi pokok di atas, tata cahaya memiliki fungsi pendukung yang dikembangkan secara berlainan oleh masing-masing ahli tata cahaya.
