ABSTRAK
Angklah adalah sebuah hasil karya penciptaan tari yang menggambarkan rasa sakit atau perasaan yang menyiksa batin, terinspirasi dari kisah Karna dalam cerita epos Mahabarata. Karna merupakan kesatria yang memiliki kepribadian tidak stabil, sebab disaat-saat penting dan genting harus menentukan pilihan, menentukan keyakinan, dan kebijakan se-bagai seorang kesatria. Pada saat harus memilih, dirinya goyah, terjadi ketidakseimbangan dalam jiwanya ketika harus berhadapan perang tanding dengan Arjuna yang akhirnya gugur. Dalam bahasa Sanskerta kata “kar?a” bermakna telinga, sehingga diceritakan bahwa Karna lahir melalui telinga Kunti. Namun, karna juga dapat bermakna "mahir" atau "terampil". Kiranya nama Karna ini baru dipakai setelah Basusena atau Karna dewasa dan menguasai ilmu memanah dengan sempurna, meskipun ia dibesarkan oleh keluarga kusir tetapi justru berkeinginan menjadi seorang perwira kerajaan. Adapun tujuan dari proses penciptaan tari ini adalah mewujudkan sebuah karya tari kontemporer yang terdiri dari tiga bagian garap, yaitu; bagian awal menggambarkan kelahiran Karna dengan flashback terjadinya sumpah tersebut, bagian kedua menggambarkan ketidakberdayaan Karna, dan bagian ketiga menggambarkan Karna gugur sebagai pahlawan. Untuk mewujudkan karya tari tersebut, maka digunakan kreativitas dengan pendekatan metode lima pola, yakni; merasakan, menghayati, menghayalkan, mengenjawatahkan dan membentuk. Hasil yang dicapai adalah se-buah karya tari kontemporer dengan judul “Angklah”, menjadi sebuah karya penciptaan tari lintas tradisi, pengembangan tari modern (cheerleaders, akrobatik, wacking).

ABSTRACT. Angklah Diction Of Creation Dance Karna Tanding, December 2019. Angklah is a work of dance creation that illustrates the pain or feelings that torture the mind, inspired by the story of Karna in the epic Mahabarata epic. Karna it is a knight who has an unstable personality, because in important times and critical times must make choices, determine beliefs, and policies as a knight. When he had to choose, he was shaken, there was an imbalance in his soul when he had to face a battle with Arjuna who eventually died. In Sanskrit the word "kar?a" means ear, so it is told that Karna was born through Kunti's ear. However, because it can also mean "proficient" or "skilled". May the name Karna be used only after Basusena or Karna was mature and mastered the science of archery perfectly, even though he was raised by a coachman family but instead wanted to become a royal officer. The purpose of this dance creation process is to realize a contemporary dance work consisting of three parts, namely; the first part describes the birth of Karna with a flashback of the oath, the second part describes the helplessness of Karna, and the third part describes Karna died as a hero. To realize the dance work, creativity is used using the five pattern method approach, namely; feel, appreciate, imagine, enjoin, and give shape. The result achieved is a contemporary dance work with the title "Angklah", a work of cross-traditional dance creation, the development of modern dance (cheerleaders, acrobatics, wacking).
