BENTUK, MAKNA DAN FUNGSI SENI KERAJINAN BATIK CIREBON

Art Cirebon batik as Indonesian cultural heritage of the past presence of cultural reflection derived form has its own peculiarities in terms of both the creation and development aspects. It is important to conduct research aimed at identifying the internal and external factors that influence the development of Batik Cirebon, change of batik Cirebon products. This study uses a qualitative method by applying a multidisciplinary approach, an aesthetic approach, approach history and sociology approach. The results showed that the dynamics of the development of Batik Cirebon due to internal factors, namely creativity and innovation as well as artists and creative leaders and influenced by external factors such as government, cultural institutions, tourism, people, and technology and media information. In a further development, batik Cirebon then not only as an object that reflects the cultural values of craft, but also have an economic value and impact of social and cultural life of the community.

Seni kerajinan batik Cirebon merupakan warisan budaya bangsa Indonesia masa lampau yang kehadirannya berawal dari bentuk refleksi kebudayaan yang memiliki kekhasan tersendiri baik ditinjau dari aspek-aspek penciptaannya maupun aspek-aspek perkembangannya. Maka perlu kiranya dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor internal dan eksternal yang mempengaruhi perkembangan batik Cirebon, perubahan bentuk, makna dan fungsi, produk batik Cirebon. Penelitian ini menerapkan metode kualitatif dengan menerapkan pendekatan multidisiplin, yaitu pendekatan estetis, teori pendekatan sejarah dan pendekatan sosiologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dinamika perkembangan batik Cirebon terjadi karena adanya faktor internal yaitu kreativitas dan inovasi perajin serta adanya tokoh yang kreatif serta dipengaruhi faktor ekternal seperti pemerintah, lembaga budaya, pariwisata, masyarakat, dan teknologi serta media informasi. Pada perkembangan lebih lanjut, batik Cirebon kemudian tidak sekedar sebagai benda kriya yang merefleksikan nilai-nilai budaya, akan tetapi juga memiliki nilai ekonomis dan berdampak pula pada kehidupan sosial budaya masyarakatnya.
