MAKNA SEMAR DALAM KALIMAH SYAHADAT PADA SENI LUKIS KACA CIREBON

This undergraduate thesis is based on the searching of meaning contained in one of Cirebon glass paintings made by Rastika, which is about the relation between kalimah syahadat (the two Arabic sentences expressing the Muslim creed), Semar, Rastika and Gegesik society. Problems formulated in this research are: 1) How is the visualization of Semar in kalimah syahadat in Cirebon glass painting made by Rastika; 2) What is the meaning of Semar in its visualization in kalimah syahadat of Rastika’s glass painting within the context of Gegesik society. The method used in this research is analysis descriptive method in the form of qualitative research. The research also uses art anthropology and ethnography approaches from ethnic perspective. The research results show that Semar is a shadow play character whose form of a shadow puppet was made by Sunan Kalijaga. Its form, gesture, color and accessories all have symbols of virtue. The amulet layang kalimasada that it owns is the most powerful amulet and are feared by its enemies. Therefore, after glass painting came to Cirebon, gradually this kind of art began to give its favor in spreading Islamic teachings. For example by painting Semar in syahadat calligraphy. It is expected that values contained in glass painting of Semar in kalimah syahadat calligraphy is not forgotten and kept to be applied in daily lives.

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pencarian makna yang terkandung pada salah satu lukisan kaca Cirebon karya Rastika yaitu mengenai kaitan antara kalimah syahadat, Semar, Rastika dan masyarakat Gegesik. Adapun rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: 1) bagaimana penggambaran Semar dalam kalimah syahadat pada seni lukis kaca Cirebon karya Rastika, 2) apa makna Semar dalam penggambarannya pada kalimah syahadat seni lukis kaca karya Rastika dalam konteks masyarakat Gegesik. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskripsi analisis dengan bentuk penelitian kualitatif. Pendekatan yang dilakukan adalah pendekatan antropologi seni dan etnografi dengan sudut pandang emik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terhadap makna Semar dalam kalimah syahadat pada seni lukis kaca Cirebon karya Rastika ini ditemukan bahwa Semar merupakan tokoh pewayangan yang wujudnya diciptakan dalam bentuk wayang kulit oleh Sunan Kalijaga. Baik bentuk, gestur, warna, serta aksesoris yang dipakainya memiliki simbol-simbol kebaikan. Jimat layang kalimasada yang dimilikinya merupakan jimat yang paling sakti dan ditakuti para musuh. Maka dari itu, setelah lukisan kaca masuk ke Cirebon, lambat laun kesenian ini mulai ikut membantu dalam menyebarkan agama Islam. Salah satunya dengan cara melukiskan Semar dalam kaligrafi syahadat. Diharapkan, makna-makna yang terkandung dalam lukisan kaca Semar pada kaligrafi kalimah syahadat ini tidak dilupakan dan terus diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
